Goose Valley Golf Estate (18)

General Information

The Augusta National Golf Club is reputedly so beautiful that each hole is named after a different type of flower. It regards itself so August, that broadcasters at the Masters are required to call fans “patrons” and to be nice about the course. The Goose Valley Golf Course is just as beautiful and needs to coerce no one to be nice about the course. The setting is magnificent – alongside the sea with the mountains as a backdrop – and each hole is a pleasure to play. As Gary Player says, the test is that when you have finished your eighteen holes, you want to come back and play again.

The Golf Club opened officially on 27 April 2003. It had been a nine hole course for some years prior to that, which did not really count. By the end of 2002 a fully re-designed eighteen holes had been finished, and by the end of April the course was, to say the least, in great shape. The ebullient Gary Player confirmed: “One does not get better conditioned fairways, bunkers and greens. House-keeping is reaching the standard which a club of this standing expects.”
