Situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Kleine Zalze is a place where comfort, world-class golf, award winning wines, and relaxed fine dining combine to offer a complete Winelands Experience. Wine has been made at Kleine Zalze since 1695. Today, this family-owned winery, 3 km outside Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Cape Winelands, continues the tradition of producing wines of outstanding quality. Apart from an award winning wine range, Kleine Zalze is also home to the renowned Terroir Restaurant, which has been consistently ranked amongst the Top 10 South African Restaurants since 2004. Here, guests can enjoy the combination of good food and wine in the shade of old oak trees.

Nestled among vineyards, and with views over the Stellenbosch Mountains and De Zalze Golf Course, the 4-star Kleine Zalze Lodge offers visitors comfortable accommodation in true Winelands style. At the Lodge’s own restaurant, Chef Nic van Wyk and his team ensure that the culinary needs of guests are met.

Within walking distance from Kleine Zalze Lodge lies the 18-hole Peter Matkovich designed De Zalze Golf Course, which perfectly rounds off the Kleine Zalze Experience with its panoramic views and challenging settings.

  • Dinner at the award winning Terroir Restaurant on Kleine Zalze Wine Estate

Day 3

  • Breakfast at Kleine Zalze Lodge
  • Chauffeur driven transfer to Arabella Golf Course just outside Hermanus
  • Round of golf at Arabella (including light lunch), followed by drinks at the Arabella Club House (for own account)
  • Freshening up before leaving for Hermanus for the afternoon
  • Whale watching and late lunch at the harbour – optional (lunch for own account)
  • Chauffeur driven transfer back to Kleine Zalze
  • Tasting menu prepared at Kleine Zalze Lodge
  • Overnight stay at Kleine Zalze Lodge

Day 4

  • Breakfast at Kleine Zalze Lodge
  • Transfer to Erinvale Golf Course (Somerset West)
  • Round of golf at Erinvale Golf Club (including light lunch), followed by drinks at the Erinvale Club House (for own account)
  • Freshening up before travelling to Cape Town for the evening
  • Dinner in the scenic coastal setting of Camps Bay
  • Overnight stay at Kleine Zalze Lodge

Day 5

  • Breakfast at Kleine Zalze Lodge
  • Round of golf at De Zalze Golf Course (including light lunch), followed by drinks at the De Zalze Club House (for own account)
  • Prize giving and farewell dinner at Kleine Zalze’s function venue (minimum of 12 golfers)

GOLF AND LEISURE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
With a dedicated PGA Pro Golf and Leisure Manager, Kleine Zalze is perfectly equipped to provide corporate golfing events of the
highest standard. Not only will we ensure that all organisational elements are co-ordinated effectively, but we can also offer
professional assistance in the creation of specific branded items, such as menus, trophies, prizes, etc. Please feel free to discuss your

KLEINE ZALZE LODGE
The 4-star Kleine Zalze Lodge lies quietly nestled amongst the vineyards of the family-owned, and internationally acclaimed
Kleine Zalze Wine Estate, established in 1695. With its modern Cape Dutch architecture, Kleine Zalze Lodge fits naturally into its
rural habitat. The surrounding mountains and vineyards exude an unsurpassed tranquility.
The Lodge’s rooms are tastefully decorated and offer magnificent views over the mountains of Stellenbosch, and De Zalze Golf
Course, creating a feeling of perfect tranquility and relaxation. All units are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite television,
under floor heating, tea- and coffee making equipment, and en suite bathrooms.


DE ZALZE GOLF COURSE
De Zalze offers a fine mix of parkland holes, its main defences being the water features on several of the holes. The oak-lined
Blaauwklippen River winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals. Renowned golf course
architect, Peter Matkovich, designed the De Zalze Golf Course, making most of the stunning setting while placing a premium on
accuracy. Since the opening in 2000, the club was quick to reap rewards. De Zalze was selected to host the 2006 World Amateur
Team Championships, moved from 44th to 23rd in the latest Golf Digest Top 100 Courses, was recently placed 13th in the Top 30
Best Conditioned courses and De Zalze also received a service-orientated “Five-Star Golf Experience” Award, managed by
Compleat Golfer, joining only 14 other courses out of over 450 courses in South Africa to achieve this honour.


PEARL VALLEY GOLF COURSE
Officially opened at the beginning of November, 2003 by Jack Nicklaus and South African great, Gary Player, Pearl Valley Golf
Estates was named ‘best new golf course of the year’ by Golf Digest magazine in 2005. Pearl Valley golf course is currently ranked
the number one golf course in the Western Cape by Golf Digest. Traversed by roads in only three places, with a state-of-the-art
drainage system in place that allows play to continue just minutes after a severe down pour, the course is truly in a league of its own.
To meet the ‘Golden Bear’s’ uncompromising standards of golf course design and aesthetic beauty, a combination of the deep, lush
green on the fairways and greens, together with the brilliant white river sand lining the bunkers was carefully planned to make
Pearl Valley Golf Estates the most visually spectacular golf course in the country and arguably the world.

ARABELLA GOLF CLUB
The Arabella golf course in South Africa is ranked by Compleat Golfer magazine as the number one golf course in the Western
Cape. This classic parkland course has spectacular views across the Bot River lagoon and across the Kogelberg mountain range. The
pristine fairways are kikuyu, while the greens, which frequently receive high praise from professionals in the game, are Dominant
Bent. The golf course has been refined in the past six years with the addition of several bunkers and the revamp of the par-four 6th
hold in order to rid it of its blind tee shot. Awarded Five-Star Golf Experience for the first time in 2002, the
course is complemented by a luxurious clubhouse with bar and halfway house, as well as a fully stocked pro shop and excellent
practice area with two resident teaching professionals.


ERINVALE GOLF CLUB
This is an estate course of two distinctly different nines. The front nine is on the flat, winding between the many houses in this part of
the estate, while the back nine climbs up the lower slopes of the magnificent Helderberg mountain, with breathtaking views of the
coastline from the top holes. Designed by Gary Player Erinvale’s beautifully manicured par 72 championship course boasts some of
the country’s most challenging and spectacular holes. Erinvale’s demanding front nine meanders through park-like terrain, whilst
the back nine provide a contrasting challenge winding its way through the foothills of the mountains
with panoramic views of False Bay.
The greens at Erinvale are huge and well-shaped allowing for several different pin placements. A feature of the layout is that
different coloured flags tell you the position of the pin, blue flags at the back, white in the middle and red at the front. Erinvale is also
a real estate development where homes blend well into the landscape.


TERROIR RESTAURANT
'Terroir' restaurant on Kleine Zalze is set amidst old oaks, lush vineyards, and rolling terraces, and specialises in French-
Mediterranean cuisine blended with a charming Cape twist. It offers a chalkboard menu of Provencal classics, inspired by the best of
what is fresh, seasonal and local. Matched with excellent wines, Michael Broughton’s creations are deceptively simple, such as classic
bouillabaisse, prawn risotto, or Terroir’s signature dish, the succulent pork belly which is roasted over a wood-fired oven. Terroir
has achieved the highest restaurant award in South Africa, named as the Eat Out Restaurant of the Year 2007 and has consistently
ranked amongst the Top 10 ever since.
